YOU CAN DO A LOT OF GOOD IN OUR COMMUNITY
When you join with other community members, you can help more than 100,000 people each year through programs housed at United Way.
But we know we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’re excited to partner with hundreds of organizations, thousands of volunteers, and donors — people just like you. These community partnerships allow us to triple your impact so that more than 300,000 people are helped with your gift.
When you give to United Way, your donation stretches further because we have the data and expertise to provide support where it’s needed most.
To create a thriving community, we must ensure the economic well-being of all people. We are committed to creating pathways to prosperity for everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
Economic well-being, in simple terms, refers to how well people are doing financially. It includes having enough cash to cover critical needs such as food, housing and health care, as well as having some extra money for savings and other expenses. It means living comfortably without financial stress and having opportunities for a better quality of life.
United Way is focused on three key issues that impact family economic well-being:
- Educational Success
- Financial Empowerment
- Housing Security
While these are not the only issues that families face, we believe they are the most urgent in our community.
But make no mistake — these are not simple problems and there are no easy solutions.
Morganne worked as a hospital lab technician but had her sights set higher. She decided to go back to school to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Her schedule is tough: Working nights and attending nursing classes during the day left her exhausted and struggling to keep up.
Morganne's situation got worse when her daughter became seriously ill. She reduced her work hours even more, which made it hard to keep up with rent and car payments. Then her car broke down, and she faced the threat of eviction.
Morganne is determined to reach her goal of becoming an LPN and wants to set a good example for her children. Despite the challenges, she presses on with your support. Through the Renew Collaborative, Morganne received help with her back rent while working on a long-term plan to keep her family in their home.
Many families are in crisis before they can receive public support. We want families like Morganne’s to get help before they reach a crisis point.
YOU HELP FAMILIES THROUGH THE RENEW COLLABORATIVE
Housing security has become our community’s biggest need today. One emergency — such as car repairs or a medical bill — can mean the difference between getting by and being evicted. This is especially true for families experiencing financial distress. What happens at United Way when the community faces a new challenge? We pivot and provide the support needed for our neighbors to thrive. That’s why we recently launched the Renew Collaborative, an eviction-prevention program.
Eviction is disruptive for families. It can lead to job loss and poor education and health outcomes.
Eviction is expensive for landlords. Legal fees, cleaning expenses and lost rent mean the cost of eviction sometimes exceeds the back rent due.
With your gift, more people will receive help through the Renew Collaborative.
MAKE YOUR IMPACT GO FURTHEROur goal is simple: We want to help our neighbors put a roof over their heads and keep it there. Eviction prevention is just one way your gift will make a stable home a reality for people in our community. We leverage multiple programs such as 211, Project LIFT, Free Tax Prep and others to move people forward. With your support, we can invest in innovative, local solutions that make a difference for people today and provide longer-term support to keep our community moving forward. |

WHEN WE STAND UNITED, WE ALL THRIVE
Receiving a helping hand in the short term helps families with success in the long run.
You're not just putting out fires today, you’re helping families build a foundation that will last for generations.
This is the heart of our mission — ensuring that the challenges families face today aren’t holding back the generations of tomorrow.
The power of United Way is that you are part of a collective. We can do more together than we can alone. And what’s more amazing? When you give to United Way now, your donation is helping today and in the future.
No matter what you give — every dollar counts.
Thank you for believing our community can be a better place for all of us. We are grateful to do this work with you.
